Todd Frazier's Jefferson Oratorio is a significant work that explores the life and legacy of Thomas Jefferson through music. It sets to music key words and ideas from the life of Thomas Jefferson, including his role in drafting the Declaration of Independence, his personal reflections, and his vision for education and freedom. It includes writings by Jefferson, his friends, and quotes from music popular in his time. The piece was originally conceived for violinist Henry Rubin.
This concert is a part of Opera in Williamsburg’s celebration of the 250 Jubilee of the Declaration of Independence. It won a VA250 grant from the Virginia Arts Commission, as well as generous support by the composer.
The concert is held during Spring Break, and parking is available next to the venue.
