A Prima Donna in a catfight with a stage mother? A German tenor attempting to sing in Itaian? Come and see them! Baritone and bass-baritone roles are among the funniest in comic Italian Operas (Opera Buffa): Figaro, Bartolo, and Basilio from The Barber of Seville, Dulcamara and Belcore from The Elixir of Love, Don Magnifico and Dandini from La Cenerentolla, and others. The sopranos, the first ladies of the operas, are their co-plotters, their adversaries, and their sidekicks. Stefanos Koroneos and Adelmo Guidarelli, who both perform with Opera in Williamsburg, have made a specialty of comic opera roles all over the world. Together with soprano Kinneret Ely, they bring to the Williamsburg public an evening that combines superb singing with terrific comic talent.
